Position Overview

The Data Analyst is responsible for developing, testing, and deploying complex dashboards and reports for clients and key stakeholders of the firm.

Key Accountabilities

  • Create, transform, and maintain datasets and dashboards which includes fixing coding errors and other data-related concerns.
  • Extract, transform, and load data from various sources into Excel and/or Power BI for analysis.
  • Interpret data and analyze results to translate data sets into impactful insights, identify trends and patterns, and present data analysis for various stakeholders.
  • Manage existing Power BI workspaces and their dashboards and reports, ensuring data accuracy and relevance.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders (legal and business services professionals) to understand data requirements, objectives, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Maintain security, confidentiality, and privacy of the data.
  • Create appropriate documentation that allows stakeholders to understand the steps of the data analysis process.
  • Work closely with external developers/consultants in designing, testing, and implementing User Experience (UX) changes.
  • Make recommendations to develop and improve data processes and best practices for data quality and data visualization by keeping up-to-date with industry trends.
  • Meet with team members to provide insight and advice on dashboards and reports and share best practices.
  • Respond to ad hoc reporting requests.
  • Review, validate, and/or provide guidance on the interpretation of reports prepared by other Financial Analysts.
  • Participate in projects and firm initiatives as required.

Attributes & Experience

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, or Information Management, or equivalent experience to successfully complete the essential requirements of the role.
  • 3-5+ years of related experience, preferably within a professional services firm.
  • Experience with managing Power BI workspaces required.
  • Strong knowledge of row-level security (RLS).
  • Proficient in Power BI Desktop, Excel/Power Query, and Power BI Report Builder software and SQL, MDX, DAX, and M querying languages; cursory knowledge of Python considered an asset.
  • Expert working knowledge of MS Office product suite, including expert-level Excel skills.
  • Experience building and interacting with Data Lake and/or Data Warehouse solutions.
  • Experience with extracting data from a complex accounting system is required. Experience with 3E would be an asset.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly grasp complex assignments; the aptitude to analyze a variety of considerations, determine what’s important, and assesses possible course of action.
  • Ability to plan, organize, schedule, and deliver within tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong client service orientation combined with the ability to manage multiple client needs at the same time.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization with tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with key stakeholders of the firm.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong aptitude for utilizing technology and continuous process improvement.
  • Sound judgment including the ability to deal with confidential information with utmost discretion.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.

Additional information

This position is part of our hybrid work model with 4 days in the office per week. As part of our onboarding, new hires are required to be in the office more often for the first few months of employment to ensure they receive the requisite cross training.
